Sheffield Wednesday sack Henrik Pedersen after loss at Doncaster Rovers
Sheffield Wednesday’s loss to Doncaster Rovers proved to be the final nail in the coffin of Henrik Pedersen’s time as Sheffield Wednesday manager
Sheffield Wednesday have sacked manager Henrik Pedersen after Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Doncaster Rovers.
Two early goals from club captain Owen Bailey proved to be the final nail in the coffin of Pedersen’s 15-month tenure with the Owls, who were unable to get back into the game against their South Yorkshire counterparts despite an improved second-half showing.

A statement issued by the Owls shortly before 1.45pm on Sunday afternoon said: “Sheffield Wednesday Football Club confirms that Henrik Pedersen has left the club with immediate effect.
“Henrik led the first team through an exceptional period in the club's history, providing stability and leadership during a time of significant uncertainty and change.
“The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Henrik for his contribution and wishes him every success in the future.”
Pedersen’s exit makes him the fourth managerial casualty of the season after Wycombe Wanderers’ decision to part ways with Michael Duff, Luke Williams’ exit from Peterborough United and most recently Bromley’s decision to sack Andy Woodman and bring in former Rovers defender Byron Webster on a caretaker basis.
Of those sackings, two have have come immediately after defeats to Doncaster Rovers, with Williams’ final match with the Posh also proving to be a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Doncaster Rovers.
The Owls, who will play host to Doncaster Rovers in January, have appointed Matt Hamshaw on a caretaker basis until a new boss is appointed. He played for Sheffield Wednesday, Stockport County and Mansfield among others during his playing days and also had a spell in charge of Rotherham United as a manager - notably overseeing both defeats against Grant McCann’s side last season.
