'We cannot wait,' say new bosses of popular Doncaster pub
Bosses say they ‘cannot wait’ to get started after taking over the popular pub.
New bosses at a popular Doncaster pub say they ‘cannot wait’ to get started after taking over the reins of the bar.
The Classic Cafe, which already has premises at Yorkshire Caravans near Bawtry, has taken over The Mayflower in Austerfield.
In a ‘progress report’ to customers, a spokesperson said: “We really can’t wait to get going.

“The new coffee shop at the rear of the premises is nearing completion.
“Just awaiting some essentials - a coffee machine for one!
“The pub has been fully decorated and we are just fitting new lighting to brighten the place up in every area.
“Cellar works will be completed this week with lots and lots of beer, being delivered too.
“We cannot wait to get you in to meet the new team and to see the changes we have made first hand.
“Thanks for all the kind wishes and messages of support from our regulars - all friends to us at The Classic Cafe at Yorkshire Caravans and to locals in Austerfield who we have been speaking to over the last few weeks. We cannot wait!”
Earlier this month, a spokesperson said: “When we open don’t forget to come and check out our scrumptious Yorkshire Deli counter.
“We will be doing our trademark coffee shop menu and fantastic pub menus too including, of course, an amazing Sunday Roast - all at reasonable prices.”
A spokesperson for previous owners Harper Inns, which took over the bar in 2025, said: “As our time at The Mayflower comes to an end, we would like to thank every customer who has supported us during our time here.
“We are incredibly grateful for the memories made, the celebrations shared and the support we have received from the local community.
“We would also like to wish the new operators every success as they begin their journey at The Mayflower. We hope you will give them a warm welcome and continue to support the pub in its next chapter.”
