Doncaster undertaker wins prestigious Good Funeral award
The firm scooped the honour at a prize ceremony
A Doncaster undertaker has scooped a prestigious prize at the annual Good Funeral Awards.
Direct Cremation South Yorkshire was named Low Cost Funeral Provider of the Year at this year’s ceremony.
A spokesperson said: “We are absolutely over the moon.
“To receive national recognition for something we believe in so passionately is an incredibly proud moment for our small, independent Doncaster business.
“From day one, our mission has been simple: to prove that an affordable funeral should never mean compromising on dignity, compassion or the quality of care a family receives.
“This award means the absolute world to us, but we couldn't have achieved it without the families who have placed their trust in us during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
“Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

“Of course, we would have loved to see more of Doncaster's fantastic finalists bringing home awards, especially our very own Mel Sabin.
“Although it wasn't her night to collect an individual trophy, we couldn't be prouder of her. Her dedication, kindness and the love she puts into caring for every family are second to none.
“She's already a winner in our eyes!
“We also want to recognise and congratulate all our fellow finalists, including Beka Staples Funeral Celebrant, Memoria Doncaster and South Yorkshire Memorial Park and Crematorium and Fond Farewell Direct Cremations.
“It was an honour to share this experience with so many wonderful people who care deeply about the funeral profession.
“We're a small local team with big hearts, and tonight we've shown that you don't have to be one of the big national companies to make a difference.
