Pub forced to cancel fireworks display, blaming Doncaster and parish council

Bosses have pulled the plug on this year’s display

Upset bosses at a Doncaster pub have been forced to pull the plug on their annual fireworks display - blaming City of Doncaster Council and the local parish council.

The White Hart at Wadworth announced the news to customers via a social media post.

The pub’s Rita Cox wrote: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that this year’s fireworks display will no longer be going ahead.

“I have taken every possible measure and explored all avenues to try to make sure we could continue providing this fantastic event for Wadworth and the surrounding villages.

“Unfortunately, due to the protocols and requirements set out by Doncaster Council, and the lack of support from Wadworth Parish Council, I have been left with no alternative but to make the difficult decision to cancel the display.

“This is not just a disappointment for The White Hart, but for the whole community.

“The cancellation also has a knock-on effect on the many local businesses, suppliers and individuals who benefit from this event.

“Epic Fireworks, who put on such a fantastic display, their staff, our food suppliers, the toy stalls, the ride operators and the staff we employ all lose out.

“Most importantly, it means the village loses an event that brings families, friends and the wider community together.

“We are truly saddened that it has come to this. What a great shame for Wadworth and the surrounding community.”
