Watch: Hundreds of England fans gather in city centre for World Cup

Hundreds of fans watched the match on a giant screen

This is the moment hundreds of England fans erupted in joy as the Three Lions kicked off their 2026 World Cup campaign in style with a 4-2 win over Croatia.

Supporters gathered in a specially created fan zone in the Market Place to watch the action unfold on a giant screen.

Local drone firm AirPixel Productions captured the moment supporters clad in red and white cheered and hurled pints into the air as Harry Kane fired home a penalty early in the game to give England the lead.

A second goal from Kane as well as strikes from Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford completed the win.

Ahead of the tournament, a spokesperson for the bar said: “We’re a small family business trying our best to create something special for Doncaster.

“This summer, we’re bringing an England Fan Zone to Market Square, complete with a giant 5m x 4m screen, plenty of seating, great food, cold drinks and a fantastic atmosphere for everyone to enjoy the football together.

“We’ve teamed up with the Masons Arms and The Queens, who have been fantastic in helping us create a bigger and better experience for everyone.

“It’s great to see local businesses working together to bring something positive to the town and support our community.

“It’s not just about football either.

“We’re hoping to host family movie nights, community events and outdoor entertainment, creating a space where people of all ages can come together and enjoy the Market Square.

“A huge thank you to Doncaster Council for working with us and helping make this happen.

“We’d also like to say a special thank you to the police for their support and for allowing this project to go ahead.

“Their cooperation and encouragement have been invaluable in helping us create a safe and enjoyable event for the community.

“Finally, a big thank you to the people of Doncaster. This fan zone is for you.

“Your support of local businesses and community events is what makes projects like this possible, and we hope it creates some fantastic memories for everyone.”
