Phenomenal demand sees MC Devvo add a fourth Doncaster date

Doncaster music icon MC Devvo is to perform a fourth gig on home soil – after phenomenal demand saw the first three dates sell out.

The rapper, who first came to fame in the early 2000s, will appear at The Leopard on August 7 following three sell out gigs at Mexborough’s Gorilla Beer Hall.

MC Devvo raps about life on the streets of Doncaster – drugs, sex and violence – but no-one can be quite sure if Devvo takes his music seriously.

That’s because Darren ‘Devvo’ Devonshire is the titular subject of a series of short mockumentaries about chav culture, created by filmmaker and animator David Firth and based on the activities of working class British youth - and play on the stereotype that they like to drink high-strength cider in public places, rely on jobseeker’s allowance and harass innocent members of the public.

The dimwitted chav, performed by pal Christian Webb, proved a hit on YouTube, gaining millions of views.
