Doncaster to make history with its first ever Autism Pride day
Doncaster is set to make history this summer as the city stages its first ever Autism Pride day.
On Saturday 13 June, Sandall Park will play host to a vibrant and inclusive community celebration.
The event is being hosted by Little Rainbows Children’s Autism Charity, a parent-led organisation dedicated to supporting autistic and SEND children and their families across the local area.
A spokesperson said: “Autism Pride Day is a celebration of neurodivergent identity, strength, and community.

"The event will bring together the SEND community and the wider public to challenge outdated perceptions of autism and neurodivergence, stand united in support of autistic and SEND children, families, and adults in Doncaster, and proudly celebrate the incredible strengths neurodivergent people bring to the world.
“Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and all forms of neurodivergence are not something to be hidden — they are something to be accepted, embraced, and celebrated.”
The day will begin with a sensory-enhanced colour run, inviting children and families to walk or run together in a joyful, sensory-friendly experience.
This colourful opening will be a powerful public display of pride, recognition, and solidarity with Doncaster’s SEND community, filled with laughter, colour, and togetherness.
Families attending Autism Pride Day can look forward to a full programme of entertainment throughout the day, including:
Princess appearances
Mr Dan and his circus performances
A spectacular Bubble Man performer
Additional entertainment and special guests will be announced closer to the event.
The event will feature a wide range of activities for children and families, including:
Children’s fun fair
Bouncy castles and rides
Stalls and face painting
Food vendors
A dedicated sensory tent, provided by The SEN Den, offering a calm, quiet space with high-quality sensory equipment for children who need time away from the busier environment
The spokesperson added: “All funds raised will go directly towards making Autism Pride Day as inclusive, accessible, and magical as possible. Little Rainbows Children’s Autism Charity is committed to creating a welcoming space where families feel proud, supported, and celebrated.
“The event welcomes families, supporters, allies, and members of the wider community — standing loud and proud alongside neurodivergent children, young people, and adults.
