New sports based group for SEND children to launch in Doncaster
The group aims to create a safe and inclusive space for children to play sports.
A spokesperson for the group told us: “We came up with the idea two weeks ago, we realised there is nothing in Doncaster for SEND children who want to do sports.
“Children with additional needs often can’t access mainstream sports and issues such as bullying are rife.
“I have witnessed it myself, they are left out or judged.

“We want to create a safe place for them to access sports where they won’t get over whelmed or dysregulated.”
The group will use Woodlands Church Hall and the Leisure Centre to host their activities.
Sports will include football, cricket and basketball.
“My step son is neurodivergent and I have watched him grow in confidence since he started playing football,” they continued.
“We hope that the sports team environment can help others feel supported.”
Everyone is welcome to the group, it is primarily focused on children but they are hoping to open it up to young adults in the near future.
They are also looking at creating an after school programme.
