Doncaster Labour MP Lee Pitcher, who lost a family member to suicide, is backing the Baton of Hope which will be heading out on a UK tour.

He said: “Carry the Baton of Hope through Doncaster in 2027!

“Last year I had the honour of carrying the baton through Scunthorpe Steelworks.

“It was one of the most powerful experiences I've had as an MP, especially as I did it in memory of my cousin who died from suicide.

“Since then, I’ve been part of a core team that successfully bid to bring the Baton to Doncaster next year, and now is your chance to be a part of it.

“The Baton of Hope is a national relay bringing communities together to remember those lost to suicide, support those who are struggling and have the conversations that can make a difference.

“Whether you're walking in memory of someone, in support of someone, or simply because you believe every life is worth fighting for, here's what you need to know

* The average carry is 300–500m

* The Baton weighs 3.24kg with a shoulder strap available O

* Open to anyone aged 16+ (16–17 year olds walk with a trusted adult)
