Footage shows man stumbling around aimlessly moments before knife attack on Doncaster train

He has been charged with ten counts of attempted murder

A knifeman on a London-bound train was captured on CCTV footage stumbling around and drinking from an unmarked bottle moments before he allegedly stabbed 10 people.

Prosecutors have said Anthony Williams, 33, “brought terror” to the Doncaster to London LNER service on November 1 last year.

On Tuesday, jurors at Cambridge Crown Court were shown video footage of the attacker in the moments before the “rampage” took place.

The knifeman, dressed in a black hoodie, jogging bottoms and cap, was captured boarding the train, and going immediately into a toilet with a sliding door at the end of a carriage.

Moments later he could be seen to come out again and beginning to move around aimlessly by the train doors, outside of the carriage.

In one clip, the man could be seen slumped with his head and hands against the wall of the train.

He then takes an unmarked bottle from his pocket, swigs it, and struggles to put it back in his hoodie.

Later, Williams could be seen going back into the toilet and being walked in on by another passenger on the train.

As he entered one of the train carriages, he was captured wobbling from side to side, before producing a large knife.

Other passengers then fled all around him while he moved through the train.

Judge Mr Justice Calver earlier told jurors at Cambridge Crown Court that whether Williams carried out the attacks is not in question but they must consider whether he intended to kill those individuals when he carried out the attacks.

Williams denies 10 counts of attempted murder from the LNER train, along with three attempted murders from Peterborough on October 31, and one on a DLR train in the early hours of November 1.
