5. Sammy Clingan
12/12 appearances: 9. Having joined Rovers as a free agent on a one month rolling contract in October 2012, Clingan was released after two months and moved to Kilmarnock in January 2013. 6. James Coppinger
12/13 appearances: 27. Whatever happened to him? Having been sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest at the start of the 12/13 season to cut costs, he returned to play a vital part in Rovers' run to the title. He remains with the club to this day, at the age of 39, having become the all-time leading appearance maker. Photo: STEVE TAYLOR
7. David Cotterill
12/13 appearances: 49. Having contributed to more goals than anyone else in English football that season, he remained with Rovers through the Championship, making another 43 appearances. He activated a relegation release clause in the summer of 2014 and joined Birmingham to be closer to family in south Wales. After a loan spell at Bristol City, he had time in the Indian Super League before retirement. He is now a mental health consultant for football Photo: Andrew Roe
8. Evan Finnegan
12/13 appearances: 1. The young full back remained with Rovers for one more season but was released in the summer of 2014. He had a spell in the Republic of Ireland before moving to the United States to play. Photo: Liz Mockler
