Two out of form teams in League Two meet as injury-hit Rovers face Lee Bell’s struggling Crewe side.

Rovers have drifted out of play-off contention over recent weeks and the actual football is now becoming something of a sideshow to the bigger picture – as discontent and concern grows among supporters about the future direction of the club under the current ownership.

But head coach Danny Schofield also desperately needs some positivity on the pitch before the end of the season to quieten his critics among the fan base.

Rovers have won once in their last eight games and find themselves ten points adrift of the play-offs with eight games remaining.

Crewe, who lie 19th in the table, ten points clear of the drop zone, have also won one in eight and come into this game on the back of three successive away defeats.

LIVE: Doncaster Rovers v Crewe Alexandra

Jack Goodman on for league debut

Nice to see Goodman get an opportunity.

He leads the line and Westbrooke slots into midfield.

Goodman and Westbrooke replace Miller and Ravenhill.

Painful viewing.

It feels like this club is at rock bottom - and that 45 minutes had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Rovers have completely failed to impose themselves on a Crewe side equally out of form.

Another individual mistake led to the visitors’ opener and the second goal was very soft from a defensive point of view.

The fans have well and truly turned on Schofield.

Rovers finally register a shot on goal in first half stoppage time - and they should be back in the game.

Seaman does well down the right and his cross falls to Hurst but his shot lacks power and is straight at Beadle.

Looks like Schofield’s switched back to 3-4-3/5-4-1 - presumably in the hope his side don’t concede again before the break.

Todd Miller as the lone striker.

This is horrendous.

Crewe lead 2-0 after a corner is headed back across goal and Connor O’Riordan nods home from a yard out.

Anger in the stands

Fans in the South Stand are making their feelings known with chants of “Sack the board”, “You don’t know what you’re doing” and “Danny Schofield, your football is ****”.

Crewe go close to a second.

Baker-Richardson fires home from close range.

Nelson made a mess of dealing with a cross and Crewe’s number nine gratefully converted.

Boos ring out at the Eco-Power.

Tabiner with a powerful shot from distance and I think it struck the post before going wide.

It looks more like a 5-3-2 from Rovers.

Molyneux and Miller up top, with Hurst alongside Close and Ravenhill in the middle.
