There was nevertheless plenty to pick over throughout the season. Here is how we rated the individual performances of the squad over the season. Only those with five or more senior appearances are included. Let us know what you think about our ratings.

13. MATTY BLAIR 6.5
It was a season blighted by injury issues for Blair, with a misdiagnosis ensuring he spent much longer on the sidelines than he need have. But in his short amount of game time he showed his continued importance to Rovers. A stand out was his start against Ipswich Town, helping to contain the opposition but launch forward quickly. And his off-field contribution to the club was immense as ever. Photo: Tony Johnson

14. JACOB RAMSEY 7.5
Very much a player Rovers will have been desperate to see more of, the Aston Villa loanee showed his tremendous potential in just a few short weeks after his deadline day signing in January. Energetic, incisive and supremely mature, he has an aggressive attacking approach and powered forward to give Rovers real threat. That he was keeping James Coppinger out of the side says plenty of his ability and the level of his impact at Rovers. He added much needed goalscoring threat with runs from deep. 15. JON TAYLOR 7
It was ultimately a frustrating season for Taylor, particularly so in the final few months when he found game time limited. But he showed what he is all about with his pace and directness from wide areas to frighten opposition teams and open doors for Rovers. His end product was not as strong as it might have been at times but six goals and six assists is not a bad record at all in the circumstances. He will have plenty to offer on and off the pitch for Rovers next season as one of the more senior members of the squad. Photo: Howard Roe/AHPIX LTDJPIMedia

16. JAMES COPPINGER 7
By his own standards, it was not the most impactful season from the veteran who saw his game time decrease as the campaign wore on. But over the first half of 19/20, he demonstrated that his ability to unlock opposition teams shows little sign of waning, with few equals in the squad on that front. His quality and fitness remain undoubtable. Moore opted for more hard running in the latter games of the campaign but Coppinger nevertheless remained a vital part of the squad both on and off the pitch. Photo: Bruce RollinsonJPIMedia
