There was nevertheless plenty to pick over throughout the season. Here is how we rated the individual performances of the squad over the season. Only those with five or more senior appearances are included. Let us know what you think about our ratings.
21. DEVANTE COLE 6
Cole barely had any time to make an impact on Rovers after arriving in late January. Moore wanted to get all his signings up to speed with his methods before introducing them into the first team. Cole certainly offered something which Rovers did not have, due to his physical presence in attack, but it is fair to say we did not see the best of him in the short time he had in the side. 22. ALFIE MAY 6.5
Though he was starting regularly in the early weeks of the season, it became clear May would only be a utility player under Moore. But he continued to be the hard working, useful player he always was for Rovers, developing his work in arriving from deep. At a key point in his professional career, it was right that he moved on in January to join Cheltenham, where he was given the opportunity to start week in, week out, and find his scoring touch regularly. 23. KWAME THOMAS 5
It was difficult for Thomas who was plucked from the free agent market in order to solve the issue of Rovers’ lack of attacking options. But he struggled to make any sort of impact. Not nearly commanding enough for a player of his size, he was easily brushed aside by opposition defenders and rarely caused problems. It was no surprise that his short term deal was not extended. 24. RAKISH BINGHAM 5
Like Thomas, he was snapped up as a free agent and asked to take on some of the attacking burden, despite his own lack of senior experience. In truth, barring a few moments including his fine goal at Bristol Rovers, he looked largely out of his depth and struggled for any real influence. Photo: Jonathan Gawthorpe
