Doncaster Rovers' derby clash with Sheffield Wednesday moved forward amid Sky Sports decision
There’s been a key fixture change for fans to make note of
Doncaster Rovers’ away clash with Sheffield Wednesday has been given a new kick-off time after being selected for TV coverage.
The clash between the Yorkshire rivals at Hillsborough Stadium will now take place on Saturday 23 January with the match kicking off slightly earlier at 12.30pm as opposed to 3pm as it had initially been scheduled.

It means those unable to grab a ticket to make the trip to S6 will be available to watch all of the action unfold live on Sky Sports+ as Grant McCann’s men attempt to do the double over the Owls for the first time since the 2013/14 campaign when both clubs were still competing in the Championship.
McCann notably boasts a record of four victories in as many matches against Sheffield Wednesday as a manager, with the most recent of those coming at the Club Doncaster Sports Village in a 2-0 victory in October with Owen Bailey grabbing both of the goals.
In fact, the Northern Irishmen has never conceded against Sheffield Wednesday as a manager after overseeing a 2-0 win as manager of Peterborough United in August 2022 while also winning both matches 1-0 during the 2019/20 campaign during his time in charge of Hull City.
However, McCann will face a new opponent in the dugout when the two teams meet at the start of 2027 after the Owls decided to part company with Henrik Pedersen less than 24 hours after their loss to Rovers in DN4.
They’ve since appointed former Stockport County boss Dave Challinor to lead the team forward. They beat Doncaster Rovers in all four meetings under his stewardship when the two sides met in both League One and League Two two seasons prior to that.
