The 28-year-old negotiated his release from Charlton Athletic, whom he has been with since October but managed only 12 starts from a possible 23 outings.

And he immediately joined Rovers, becoming the club’s fifth signing of the January window.

The forward has been the primary striker target for Darren Moore during this window but securing his departure from Charlton has taken time.

He netted two goals in 17 appearances for the Addicks this season, following his release from Cardiff City.

Bogle spent time in the academies of West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City before beginning his senior career in non-league with Hinckley United and Solihull Moors.

He then switched to Grimsby Town in 2015 and helped the Mariners win promotion back to the Football League, scoring two goals in the National League play-off final.

Bogle joined Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee the following January. By August 2017 he had switched to Cardiff City for a fee believed to be around £700,000.

During his three years with the Bluebirds, he made 24 appearances and scored four goals, spending the majority of his time out on loan with spells at Peterborough United, Birmingham City, Portsmouth and latterly ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands.

His record in League One stands at eight goals in 38 appearances, though only 23 of these were starts.

Bogle is eligible to make his debut in Rovers’ trip to promotion rivals Lincoln City on Saturday.
