Headlam Group plc, as well as its trading subsidiary HFD Limited, crashed into administration on September 8.

A restructuring is set to take place in the form of a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), which is a type of plan which helps struggling businesses repay their debts.

The company, which employs over 1,300 people, said its remaining 17 distribution centres and 48 trade counters would continue to trade despite the news.

However 154 jobs and 28 of the counters are to close as part of the process.

Will Wright, UK CEO at Interpath and joint administrator to Headlam Group plc, said: “Headlam is a well-established British company with a heritage stretching back more than 30 years, and the feedback we’ve received from customers and suppliers in recent days reinforces that there remains market demand for the business.”

“Unfortunately, however, the Group has not been immune to recent economic challenges, including cost inflation and fragile consumer confidence, which over time have placed significant pressure on the business.”
