Tributes to "well-liked" Doncaster councillor

Tributes are flooding in for a popular Doncaster councillor who died on Tuesday following a short illness.

Doncaster Councillor Alan Jones died on Tuesday at the age of 67.

Labour Coun Jones was also the husband of the borough’s elected mayor, Ros Jones.

Jo Miller, Chief Executive of Doncaster Council, said: “It is with deep sadness that we heard of the passing of Councillor Alan Jones following a short illness. We send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his wife Ros, daughter Danny and the rest of Alan’s family.

“Alan was a highly valued and well-liked councillor who worked tirelessly for the Norton and Askern communities since 2011, has provided great support to Ros in her role as Elected Mayor and represented the council on numerous committees. Alan will be deeply missed by his friends and colleagues.”
