Residents urged to have say on DSA airspace in online forum

Consultation around airspace for Doncaster Sheffield Airport is taking place

Residents are being urged to have their say on Doncaster Sheffield Airport at an online forum to consult on airspace.

The webinar will take place on Thursday (September 3) from 11am to 12.30pm when people will be able to learn how to put their views forward.

Save DSA campaigner Mark Chadwick said: “Not everybody can get time away from work, travel to one of the public consultation events or fit an evening meeting around family and other commitments.

“That’s exactly why the DSA Airspace Change Consultation webinars are important.

“This gives people another opportunity to understand what is actually being proposed before completing the consultation.

“The webinar includes a video andpresentation explaining the Airspace Change Proposal, the proposed controlled airspace and the arrival and departure routes.

“Then there is a question and answer session, giving you the opportunity to put your own questions to the team involved.

“So if you've looked at some of the maps and thought of questions such as ‘what does this actually mean for where I live?

“Will aircraft fly over my area? Why have these particular routes been chosen? How will noise be considered? Why does DSA need controlled airspace? Can anything be changed following the consultation?, ask them.

“You don't have to already understand aviation or airspace terminology. That's the whole point of having these sessions.

“The consultation documents contain a lot of information and, understandably, some people will find parts of them quite technical.

“Watching the presentation and then being able to ask a question could make things much easier to understand.

“And this isn't just for people who support reopening DSA.

“If you have concerns about the proposals, join the webinar and ask about them.

“We've said throughout this consultation that we want people to respond from an informed position — whether their response is positive, negative or somewhere in between.

“Don't base your response solely on something you've read on Facebook.

“Get the information. Watch the presentation. Ask the questions. Get the answers. Then have your say.”

The consultation is open until 4October 2026, and responses will be considered as the final airspace proposal is developed.

You need to register for the webinar online through the official DSA Airspace Consultation page at https://www.flydsa.com/.../airspace-change-proposal.../
