One of "best ever" films about music to be screened in Doncaster

The cult classic will be shown at a Doncaster theatre

A movie lauded as “one of the best films about music ever made” is to be screened in Doncaster.

Cult cinema club In The Mood For Film will be presenting Almost Famous at the Doncaster Little Theatre on September 17.

The 2000 American comedy drama, written and directed by Cameron Crowe, tells the story of a teenage journalist writing for Rolling Stone magazine in the early 1970s.

Almost Famous takes that feeling you get when you first fall in love with music, that utter euphoria of connecting with a song that feels like it was written just for you, and bottles it across 122 unforgettable minutes.

From beloved writer-director Cameron Crowe, the film throws us headfirst into the intoxicating world of music journalism in the 1970s, a golden age for American rock music, and has since been lauded as one of the best films about music ever made.

More than that, though, Almost Famous is a love letter to growing up, chasing your dreams and the power of pop music to change the world, or at least to change a geeky kid from San Diego, forever. You’ll never listen to ‘Tiny Dancer’ the same way again…

Doors are at 6pm and tickets are priced at £7 and are available from the box office.
