Nine arrests at St Leger meeting say police, as anniversary passes off relatively peacefully
Bumper crowds packed into Doncaster Racecourse for the four day event
Police say nine people were arrested at this year’s 250th anniversary St Leger meeting, as the four day event passed off relatively peacefully.
Bumper crowds packed in to Doncaster Racecourse from Thursday to Sunday, with visitor numbers up on all days of the festival.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said seven people had been arrested for minor assaults, with two arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
The spokesperson added: “There were no major issues or serious crimes reported during the event.”
Uniformed and plain clothed officers were on patrol at Town Moor across the event.
Ahead of the festival. a spokesperson said: “Our officers are specially trained to identify someone who may be planning or preparing to commit a criminal act by carrying out a process known as hostile reconnaissance.
“When you see officers, you'll see them speaking to security, staff, partners and members of the public, that's because everyone has an important role to play.
“Remember our officers are there for you, their presence is nothing to be worried about and if you see them, please stop and say hello.”
