Masked gunmen carry out armed robbery at Toby Carvery on Mother's Day

Three masked gunmen carried out an armed robbery at a Toby Carvery restaurant in Rotherham before fleeing the scene on motorbikes.

Men armed with shotguns and a handgun threatened staff at around 11.20pm on Sunday night as workers were waiting outside the premises off Eastwood Trading Estate in the East Dene area of Rotherham.

The offenders stole cash as well as a number of personal items from employees.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Paul Wilson said: “This was an extremely aggressive incident which has left staff extremely frightened and distressed.

“Specialist officers are supporting the victims and an investigation is underway to find those responsible.

“We urge anyone who was in the area at the time or has any information that may help with the investigation to contact 101 quoting incident 54 of 7 March.”

The men are described as wearing motorbike jackets, motorbike gloves and helmets over balaclavas. One of the men was wearing Adidas trainers and one was described as being around 5ft 11ins.

All three spoke with a Rotherham or Sheffield accent and left the scene on motorbikes.
