A pub restaurant brand in Doncaster is calling on local mums to put themselves first this half term – offering a complimentary pudding for every compliment made to fellow mums.
The initiative to ‘pud mum first,’ follows the revelation that Doncaster mums believe themselves to be less important than their children and partner.
A study of 1,000 mums aged between 18 and 55, commissioned by Toby Carvery, revealed the majority of mums put themselves third in the pecking order, with only 5 per cent of mums believing they are the most significant family member.
The two family carvery restaurants in Doncaster are asking mothers to pay each other a compliment on by visiting Toby Carvery’s Facebook page. In return they will both receive a free pudding to enjoy together, taking some well-deserved time off.
All mums involved will then be automatically entered into a free prize draw for the chance to win a luxury spa day.
Jamie Stokom, general manager at Toby Carvery Edenthorpe, said; “We recognise that mums have a lot to juggle to keep the family balanced, so it’s no wonder more than half are feeling worn out.
“65% of Doncaster mums we spoke to said they would like greater recognition for their efforts and we want to show our appreciation by bringing mums together to show their support for one another.”
Despite the low ranking Doncaster mums give themselves, the results of the survey suggest that a mother’s work is never done, with a long list of chores to do each night including; sorting the family dinner, 77% helping with homework, 36% and washing clothes 43%.
With a quarter of mums polled saying that they get no help from their partners, it is no wonder 57% of them have admitted to being close to breaking point.
For more information or to pay a fellow mum a compliment, visit Facebook before Monday March 7 to claim a free pudding and be in with a chance of winning a £500 SuperBreak voucher to spend on a luxury spa day.
