Doncaster theatre up for prestigious national community award
A Doncaster theatre has been nominated in the Great British Theatre Awards.
Cast Theatre is being recognised on a national scale as they have been nominated at the Great British Theatre Awards.
The awards celebrate the extraordinary theatres and individuals who make an outstanding contribution to the UK's cultural life, the ceremony will bring together some of the industry's most recognisable faces to honour the nation's much- loved theatre buildings and the communities they serve.
Cast is up for the ‘Great Community Connection’ awards which will be given to a theatre that goes above and beyond for their community.
The category will highlight how theatres can become a place of connection and belonging in their communities.
The winner will have demonstrated impactful and genuine relationships with people who might otherwise feel excluded from cultural life.
Other finalists include Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, Derby Theatre in Derby, Eden Court in Inverness and many more.

The awards form part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, marking five decades of championing the UK’s theatres and the communities that depend on them.
Over 200 theatres across the nation were submitted for awards in 2026.
Two additional honours will also be awarded at the inaugural ceremony.
The Great British Theatre 2026 award will be selected by the judging panel from the category winners, and the Great British Theatres Lifetime Achievement Award will be selected by Theatres Trust.
The winners will be revealed at the Great British Theatres Awards ceremony at Central Hall Westminster on Monday, 2 November 2026.
