Doncaster city centre restaurant named among world's best by TripAdvisor

A Doncaster city centre restaurant has been named among the best in the world.

Charm Thai, an independent Thai restaurant on Copley Road, has just been named a 2026 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award winner, with Tripadvisor confirming that the award places the restaurant among the top 10% of restaurants worldwide.

The award is based on reviews and ratings submitted by travellers over the previous 12 months.

Owner James Staniforth said: “For an independent Thai restaurant in Doncaster that only opened in June 2024, it feels like a significant milestone.

“Charm Thai is away from some of Doncaster’s main restaurant areas, so recommendations, reviews and word of mouth have played a major part in helping people discover us.

“We are continually trying to improve what we do and are striving to be the best restaurant in Doncaster, while building a reputation as one of the best places to eat in Doncaster.

“Receiving independent recognition from Tripadvisor feels like a significant step for the restaurant.”

Charm Thai currently also holds a 5.0 Google rating from more than 270 reviews and has a five-star food hygiene rating.

He added: “We were delighted when the email came through from Tripadvisor. To see an independent Doncaster restaurant on Copley Road recognised among the top 10% of restaurants worldwide is something we’re extremely proud of.

“We’re striving to be the best restaurant in Doncaster and to become known as one of the best places to eat in Doncaster.

“We know that only comes from consistently giving people food and service they want to recommend. This award means a lot because it comes from the reviews and ratings of the people who have actually visited us.”
