Businessman and Reform UK leader calls for bleed control kits across Doncaster

The businessman wants the kits in every defibrillator cabinet in the city

A Doncaster business and Reform UK leader is calling for bleed control kits to be put in every defibrillator cabinet across Doncaster.

Irwen Martin, who runs Wine Corner Ltd and The Corner Fridge Company and is chairman of Reform UK in Doncaster, has donated two public-access bleed control kits for installation in existing defibrillator cabinets.

He is now urging other Doncaster businesses to join him in making the city safer.

He said: “Severe bleeding is one of the fastest killers in everyday emergencies.

“A simple kit containing a tourniquet, trauma dressings, gloves, and clear step-by-step instructions gives any bystander the tools to control life-threatening bleeding in the critical minutes before an ambulance arrives.

“Placing these kits next to defibrillators that are already on high streets, in shops, offices and community buildings multiplies the life-saving power of equipment that is already there.”

Mr Martin presented the kits to Howard Rimmer, Reform UK councillor for Doncaster, so they can be sited where they will do the most good.

He is now inviting other local businesses and organisations that already have a defibrillator on their premises to take part.

He said: “Getting involved is straightforward.

“Businesses can donate a kit for installation in an existing defibrillator cabinet or host a kit on their own site.”

Free qualified training is also being offered so people know exactly how to use a tourniquet or bleed kit in an emergency.

“We’re not keeping these kits for ourselves,” said Mr Martin. “We’re putting them into defibrillator cabinets that are already out there in the community, where someone might need them at any moment.

“Any business or organisation with a defibrillator can get involved, and we’ll train their people as well.

“Together we can make sure there’s a bleed kit alongside every defibrillator in Doncaster.”

Businesses that would like to donate a kit, host one, or arrange training should contact Wine Corner on 01302 744916 or [email protected]
