The skills being demanded by modern employers are available to learn for those moving on from Level 3 studies, such as A levels or T Levels. The new HTQs are Level 4 and 5 and result in higher national certificates, higher national diplomas and foundation degrees.

They are an alternative route to secure, well-paid careers for students over 18 and adults looking to change the direction of their career.

A full roll-out of HTQs is due to be completed by 2025 across 15 job sectors, following a launch of a digital version in September 2022. They are due to transform education by giving skills requested by employers.

£1.3m funding supports delivery of HTQs

£1.3m from the Government’s Higher Technical Education Skills Injection Fund has enabled the academic collaboration to deliver HTQs across the region.

HTQs at Level 4 and 5 will help South Yorkshire students taking T Levels and other Level 3 courses at the moment to progress. The will also take advanage of the link to the upcoming Lifelong Learning Entitlement, as well as informing communities about HTQs.

Because the new qualifications are backed by employers, there is a guarantee they give exactly what is needed to succeed in the workplace. And, they Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education, approve them to ensure high quality.

Student finance provided for degree level study is also available.

HTQs are already available to study in South Yorkshire. To find out more about what is available within the South Yorkshire College Partnership Group, visit the links below:
