Doncaster born England football star Danny Rose donates £19,000 to his hometown hospital

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust posted on it’s Facebook page:

“The support we have received from our communities has been humbling so far. Today, we can share with you the amazing news that we have just received a donation of £19,000 to our hospital charity from footballer Danny Rose. We are utterly blown away by his generosity and kindness of spirit - the man is a credit to Doncaster, his club and, most importantly, his family. A big hand for Danny everybody.”

The donation brings the total donated by the football star to NHS staff to around £40,000 after he donated a similar amount to the North Middlesex University hospital earlier this week

In a video message the footballer, said: “I just want to say a huge thank you for everything you are doing at the moment and the hours you are putting in and more importantly, putting yourself at risk just to treat everybody in these sad and scary times we’re in.

“I just wanted to say on behalf of my colleagues you are the heroes and I think you are not getting the recognition you deserve.

Rose, 29, had earlier revealed that he had 'no problem' donating as much of his wages as necessary after top flight footballers were criticised by health secretary Matt Hancock for not contributing chunks of their salaries to help the coronavirus battle.
