The power-folk pioneers are hitting the road this spring following a remarkable 2019 which saw the band transform from buskers into BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners.

Fresh from a frantic year touring their award-winning debut album Hide and Hair in the UK, North America and Europe, The Trials of Cato are descending on UK venues including Doncaster’s Roots Music Club to debut new material from their hotly-anticipated second album, due out later this year.

Originally from North Wales and Yorkshire, The Trials of Cato formed whilst living in Beirut, and spent a year boiling down the roots of their sound into a hybrid of traditional influences that intrigued Lebanese audiences in the country’s biggest venues.

Returning home in the winter of 2016, they have since been an exciting new addition to the UK folk scene.

They quickly gained the attention of the likes of DJs Cerys Matthews on BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe. He hailed them as “one of the real discoveries on the folk circuit in recent times”.

Early last year they won Best Emerging Artist at the inaugural Wales Folk Awards and within six months they were double BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominees.
