Rugby union: Knights seal win as Russell is linked with switch to Rotherham
As Doncaster Knights returned to form by beating Richmond by five tries to one at Castle Park, speculation was growing that fly-half Russell Bennett will join rivals Rotherham Titans next season.
If that’s the case, it’ll mean that Russell will be playing again for Rotherham coach, Harvey Biljon, his former coach at Jersey Reds, whose side are on the verge of promotion to the Champ.
Two tries by former England winger, Semasa Rokoduguni, and one each for backs Connor Edwards, on his 100th appearance, and Jordan Olowofela plus flanker Josh Bainbridge, set up a convincing 31-10 victory which hadn’t been apparent after a mediocre first half in which Doncaster missed several chances.
But in the second, their pack, which also defended their line effectively, controlled possession and dictated events-none more so than skipper and second row Ben Murphy.
Scrum-half Alex Dolly was also in good form, kicking three conversions.
Knights are back at home on Saturday (April 18) with a visit from London Scottish.
