A serious knee injury to captain Ruby Jex-Oldfield marred Doncaster Rovers Belles home tie in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Women’s Cup against Barnsley Women Under-21s.

Belles were well on their way to victory, leading 6-0 in the second half at the time of the incident. Both teams agreed to abandon the second round tie and it is expected that County FA will let that score stand.

Meanwhile, Belles Under-21s were in action against Rotherham United and they, too, suffered injuries which resulted in two players - Olivia Harvey and Fran Ward - going to hospital. Though Belles lost 11-1, they emerged with credit from a tie where they were very much the underdogs. Lexie Vauvert scored for Belles.

Rossington Main lost 4-0 away to Huddersfield Town Development and Jodie Clarkson put Brodsworth Main ahead in their 5-1 defeat at SJR Worksop who play two tiers higher.

Brodsworth’s Development team, for whom Jill Edmonds and Joanna Meads scored, drew 2-2 at Sheffield Medics in Sheffield & Hallamshire County League Division Four where Scawthorpe Scorpions lost 3-1 at home to Frickley Athletic 2nd XI. Rossington Main drew 0-0 at home to Penistone Church in Division Two. Summer Pearson 4, Eve Micklethwaite 3 and Katie Clarke were the Rossington FC scorers in their 8-2 home victory over Kinsley Ladies in Division Five.
