LIVE: Sheffield Wednesday 2 Doncaster Rovers 0

TWO minutes

44. Chance for Wednesday

It was all too easy for Florian Kamberi to bring down a long ball forward and then cross from the byline. He found Deniis Adeniran, who got under the ball a little and flicked his header straight up in the air.

John Bostock wins the ball in the middle of the park and carries it forward. He lays off to Adrian Barlow who looks to have been fouled as he flicked it into space for Kyle Knoyle. Knoyle strikes a low effort first time to the near post and draws a good save from Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Barry Bannan curls the free kick narrowly over the bar

Foul on Marvin Johnson 25 yards out.

37. Exactly what Rovers needed

There was a buzz about this place at kick off and it carried into the early stages of this game. But Rovers have took control of possession over the last 15 minutes or so and it’s taken the sting out of Wednesday and their supporters too.

This first half performance, barring the early stages, has been a marked improvement on the first two offerings this season.

A huge chance for Rovers as Ethan Galbraith chips the ball over the top into the box with Tiago Cukur pulling away. He stretches to make contact but cannot turn the ball on target.

That chance capped a good spell for Rovers where they have enjoyed some decent possession. They’re working the ball really well at the moment and pushing Wednesday deeper.

27. Rovers’ pressing game is improving

Set up in a 4-2-3-1 system off the ball, the Rovers midfield is looking to press the opposition hard and high up the pitch. Ben Close in particular is giving close attention to Wednesday’s attempts to play out into midfield.

Pontus Dahlberg gets up superbly to pull the ball out of the sky after Jack Hunt chipped a ball in looking for Florian Kamberi.

Tommy Rowe, Doncaster Rovers

Rowe blocked off Andre Green on the corner of the box. The referee didn’t give it, but his assistant flagged straight away. Looked like it may well have been in the box.

Barry Bannan curled the resultant free kick over the bar.
