Blackpool 2 Doncaster Rovers 0

7.54pm Bright start, but so easy to play against

Rovers started the game well, moving the ball quickly to take the sting out of the Blackpool press. But once they settled into dallying in possession a little, they have been easy prey for the hosts.

Rovers are just being forced deeper and deeper and look massively unsettled. It’s cut off the supply line forward, and despite all their hard work, it’s been simple for Blackpool.

This has been an issue that has dogged Rovers all season and they’re struggling once again.

Reece James curls high and wide from the edge of the box after a lay-off from Tyreece John-Jules.

44min Rovers not deal with the press

Rovers are having major problems dealing with the close attention from Blackpool. The midfield is being forced deeper and deeper with the hosts cutting off the routes forward. It often sees Rovers playing back, which only invites the Blackpool press further up the pitch. That bright start looks a long way off at the moment.

Omar Bogle replaces the injured Fejiri Okenabirhie for Rovers.

A really good, swift passing move from Rovers leads to Tyreece John-Jules firing first time over the bar from the edge of the box. Rovers moved the ball really well through James and Richards before John-Jules was teed up.

Ellis Simms fires Blackpool in front.

It was all a little bit too easy for Blackpool, which is a shame given how hard Rovers have worked to keep them a bay in these early stages.

Tom Anderson was beaten to a header by Jerry Yates and Simms had peeled away from Andy Butler, taking him clean through. He looked to place the ball past Louis Jones, who got a foot to it but could not prevent it from looping into the back of the net.
