Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann says his team are finally starting to see ‘some light at the end of the tunnel’ in terms of injury ahead of this Saturday’s blockbuster clash with South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Looking to get back to winning ways after losses to Leicester City and Stockport County, McCann’s replenished group will welcome back a quartet of key players in Jack Senior, Jamie Sterry, Tommi O’Reilly and Jordan Thomas.
It means McCann, who has at times almost had his hands tied in terms of team selection, now has plenty of options at his disposal as he attempts to add to his pretty impressive record in Yorkshire derbies.
With that in mind, here’s our predicted starting lineup for this weekend’s match with three changes from the team that were comfortably beaten by Stockport on Tuesday evening.
9. Jordan Thomas
Jordan Thomas is likely to come back into the side for the first time since his injury against Burton Albion. He appeared to be just hitting form before that game and could be a useful player going forward. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]
10. Leon Ayinde
Leon Ayinde has been one of Rovers' standout performers in recent weeks and when in full flow has proven he can really hurt teams with his pace. He had the beating of Luke Thomas last weekend against Leicester City and also bagged a great goal the week prior to that against Burton Albion. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]
11. Alfie May
Alfie May has often played alongside Brandon Hanlan in recent weeks, but the return of a few key figures could mean that the striker leads the line on his own against Sheffield Wednesday. He's on three league goals this season after the EFL credited him with the strike against Leicester City last weekend. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]
