Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann says his team are finally starting to see ‘some light at the end of the tunnel’ in terms of injury ahead of this Saturday’s blockbuster clash with South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Looking to get back to winning ways after losses to Leicester City and Stockport County, McCann’s replenished group will welcome back a quartet of key players in Jack Senior, Jamie Sterry, Tommi O’Reilly and Jordan Thomas.
It means McCann, who has at times almost had his hands tied in terms of team selection, now has plenty of options at his disposal as he attempts to add to his pretty impressive record in Yorkshire derbies.
With that in mind, here’s our predicted starting lineup for this weekend’s match with three changes from the team that were comfortably beaten by Stockport on Tuesday evening.
1. Tommy Simkin
England Under-21 prospect Tommy Simkin was one of the bright sparks in a poor performance against Stockport County. He's been an everpresent in the league this season and should continue to start. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]
2. Jamie Sterry
For the first time in nearly two months, Doncaster Rovers have Jamie Sterry at their disposal. He's been a key player throughout Grant McCann's time in charge but selecting him could be a risk given his lack of minutes. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]
3. Sean Grehan
Sean Grehan has been a regular this season and has made huge strides in his game. He's likely to keep his place in the backline. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]

4. Neill Byrne
Experienced defender Neill Byrne is likely to partner Grehan at the heart of defence as Rovers return to a four-at-the-back system.
