Motorists in Doncaster are facing disruption this weekend – as roads are set to close for the Doncastrer 10K road race.

The high profile running race takes place on Sunday 24 November, and will mean roads closed from between 7am until 1pm and diversion signs will be put out.

Hundreds of runners will take to the streets in what is one of the biggest sporting events in Doncaster town centre. The race is due to start at 10am and spectators are expected to be lining the route to cheer on the athletes.

Fixed road closures:

> A18 Leger Way, Intake, from Armthorpe roundabout to Racecourse roundabout, 7am until 1pm.

> Bennetthorpe and South Parade. Bennetthorpe outbound closed (heading from town to racecourse roundabout). Inbound remains open with a single lane restriction, a short 'hold' will be placed inbound on motorists between the times of 9.55am to 10.10am while runners cross carriageways. When entering town via Bennetthorpe motorists will be turned onto Waterdale and Chequer Road with no access to Thorne Road or Hall Gate.

> Waterdale. Closed eastbound from roundabout with Chequer Road; closed both directions from College Road to roundabout with Chequer Road

> Wood Street. Closed from Cleveland Street to Waterdale.

> College Road. Closed, but access available to car park from Waterdale.

> Cleveland Street. Closed from College Road to Duke Street roundabout; closed from Hallgate to College Road.

> Duke Street. Closed from Cleveland Street to St Sepulchre Gate.

>Danum Road / Roman Road / Hall Cross Hill Bennetthorpe. Left turn only. Motorists are asked to take extra care as they will at points be joining the flow of runners separated by cones.

Bus service disruption:

>Service 15 (First) towards Doncaster to operate as normal to Nether Hall Road at the junction with Market Road then divert via Market Road, Church Way, Markets Roundabout and Grey Friar’s Road before terminating at Doncaster Interchange. Towards Long Sandall to depart from Doncaster Interchange and operate via Holmes Market before resuming normal route on Nether Hall Road.

>Services 21, 25 (Stagecoach), 56, 57a, 58f and 72 (First) towards Doncaster to operate as normal to Bawtry Road at the roundabout with Bennetthorpe then divert via Carr House Road and Trafford Way before terminating at Doncaster Interchange. Services 21, 25 (Stagecoach), 55, 57c, 58f and 73 (First) from Doncaster to depart from Doncaster Interchange and operate via Trafford Way and Carr House Road before resuming normal route on Bawtry Road.

>Services 65, 66, 81, 82, 84, 84a, 87, 87a and AM1 (First) towards Doncaster to operate as normal to Thorne Road then divert via East Laith Gate, Market Road, Church Way, Church View and Grey Friars’ Road before terminating at Doncaster Interchange. Services 65, 66, 81, 82, 84, 84a, 87 and 87a (First) from Doncaster to depart from Doncaster Interchange and operate via Trafford Way, Church Way, Markets Roundabout, Church Way, Market Road and East Laithe Gate before resuming normal route on Thorne Road.
