Hip Hop artists take over Doncaster theatre with immersive performance
A Hip Hop festival brought world class artists to perform at a Doncaster theatre.
Breakin’ Convention took to the stage at Cast on Wednesday June 3.
It was a celebration of Hip Hop culture which featured artists from around the globe including Traplord, Femme Fatale and Ill-Abilities.
Local artists such as Street Beat Elite, Bust-A-Move and Dancedaze UK also took to the stage during the evenings event.
Femme Fatale are a dance group who are based in LA, they told us that this show was really special to them.

“We incorporated sounds from each of our countries,” Marie Poppins said.
“I am from France, Dassy Lee is from South Korea and Lily is from Mexico.
“It is a really strong yet feminine piece.”
The group have been together for nine years and have performed all over the world.

During the Breakin’ Convention tour they have taken their moves to Brighton, Poole, Nottingham, Newcastle and now Doncaster.
“What we are doing right now is a once in a lifetime experience,” Marie said.
“What we are experiencing right now is very unique.
“Getting to perform our own show with an amazing group is one of my top ten career achievements.”
Femme Fatale was excited to perform at Cast, they described the theatre as "beautiful."
Breakin’ Convention was curated and hosted by theatre legend Jonzi D - the experience included graffiti artists, freestyle sessions and DJ sets.
Traplord told us how their immersive performance would resonate with audiences from all backgrounds.

“The show is about where we come from and what we have been through,” said Warren Gordon Powell from Traplord’s.
“We are trying to show that there is hope and love at the end of the world.”
The dancing duo put this show together 10 years ago and are happy to be touring it around UK cities, including Doncaster.
“It is an immersive experience,” Warren continued.
“We are taking you on a journey with rapping, spoken word, and our own music.”
Traplord hopes that the audience will relate to their story which focuses on race, mental health and brotherhood.
