Doncaster restaurants given new food hygiene ratings after zero star failures
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
The Elachi in Armthorpe has been awarded a five star rating while the Lotus in Warmsworth has also been re-rated with a four star certificate.
Both were recently awarded zero stars by the Food Standards Agency after failing hygiene inspections.

Hide AdThe reports said that improvements were needed in areas such as hygiene, cleanliness and food preparation.
The inspection, carried out in September, said both restaurants needed major improvement in the following areas:
Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage
Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene

Hide AdSystem or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future
The report said that major improvement was required across all areas of the restaurant.
The Lotus is housed in a building formerly known as The Cecil pub while the Elachi is situated just off Mille Street in Armthorpe.
Gill Gillies, Doncaster Council’s Assistant Director of Environment, said: “Food safety officers have worked closely with business owners following the poor inspection ratings to ensure that appropriate food safety procedures are in place and standards are being improved and maintained.”
