Doncaster mum to run London Marathon for "superhero" son, 4, battling cancer

The youngster is currently undergoing chemotherapy

A Doncaster mum is gearing up to take on the London Marathon to support her four year-old “superhero” son as he battles cancer.

Rosie Buckley is taking on the gruelling challenge next year to raise funds for Children With Cancer UK after son Henry was diagnosed earlier this year.

She has set up a fundraising page - which you can donate to here - https://tinyurl.com/5n8jjppr

On the page, she said: “Henry was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma on 10 April.

“He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and will soon have six weeks of proton therapy and two weeks of radiotherapy.

“His strength, resilience and determination throughout his diagnosis and treatment so far has been unbelievable, I call him my superhero.

“I have been wanting to run the London Marathon for years and now I finally have a genuine reason and charity to do this for rather than it just be to tick something off of my bucket list.

“Through everything we've faced, we've seen just how vital charities like Children with Cancer UK are.

“They fund life-saving research, support families, and work tirelessly towards a future where more children survive cancer and experience the healthy childhood they deserve.

“They also fund "beads of courage” - Henry loves his beads and collects them for each procedure, poke, overnight stay, round of chemo etc.

“If you're able to support me, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness will help fund vital research and provide hope to children and families who need it most.

“Thank you for believing in me, supporting Henry, and standing with every child fighting cancer.”

She added: “No parent thinks it’s going to be their child until you hear those words ‘I’m sorry, it’s cancer.’

“People then say ‘I don’t know how you cope, how you do it’

“The answer is, you just do, you have no choice. “
