Digital van brought in as search for missing Doncaster man Kyle Binns stepped up

Kyle, 25, has not been seen since November 10 and police are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

The South Yorkshire Police van, displaying digital images of him, is going to follow Kyle’s last known sightings, then head to areas he is known to frequent.

The van will tour St Anne’s Road, Belle Vue, Bawtry Road, Rossington and Doncaster town centre.

A spokesman said: “Our hope is that we will jog commuters and motorists’ memories of seeing Kyle last Tuesday morning – we’re particularly keen for CCTV or dash cam footage.”

Kyle was seen at around 8.25am on Tuesday 10 November on St Anne’s Road in the Belle Vue area, before being captured on CCTV walking past the Shell garage on Bawtry Road, Bessacarr, at 8.44am that morning.

He was seen wearing dark clothing – a black jacket, black jeans, white trainers and a dark cap.

He is not thought to have taken any spare clothing with him and at this time, police do not believe he has access to transport or money.

Chief Inspector Lee Carlson, who is overseeing the search for Kyle, said: “It is now nine days since Kyle was last seen on CCTV walking away from Doncaster town centre.

“Extensive enquiries have been undertaken by officers to try and understand where Kyle might have headed. This has included an extensive trawl of other CCTV in the area to determine if he can be seen, house-to-house enquiries and public appeals for information.

“Kyle’s disappearance is highly out of character, so understandably his family are very concerned and want to know where he is.

“We have received a few reported sightings of Kyle, including possible sightings on public transport – these have been investigated and unfortunately were not Kyle.

“Given our concerns for Kyle’s welfare, we have also carried out specialist enquiries to locate his mobile phone. This suggests that Kyle’s phone was in the area where he was last seen on Tuesday 10 November, but it appears the phone was then turned off or the battery died.

“There is a lot of open space close to Bawtry Road and the town centre, it is also possible Kyle may have walked a considerable distance to another part of Doncaster. We have officers searching woodland for any sign of Kyle but with the nights setting in earlier, this will be ongoing over the coming days.

“As the weather gets colder and wetter, my appeal is to anyone who lives in Doncaster to consider whether Kyle could be seeking shelter somewhere close to you. Do you have a large garden with a shed where he might be hiding?

“I’d also ask anyone who partakes in walking, whether that’s with your dog or for your daily exercise, to be mindful that Kyle is still missing and could be trying to shelter outdoors somewhere.

“If you have CCTV cameras at your home or business that you don’t think our officers have checked yet, please get in touch with us. We’re also keen to hear from any motorists who were travelling along Bawtry Road or in the surrounding area on the morning of 10 November, who may hold dash cam footage.

“We appreciate the support we’ve received from the Doncaster community so far and would ask that anyone who has information that could help us locate him contacts us as soon as possible.”
