Boeing 747 jumbo jets set to return to DSA, says airport campaigner
The aircraft are understood to be making a return to the airport
Massive Boeing 747 jumbo jet cargo aircraft are set to return to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, with a campaigner describing it as “huge news for Doncaster.”
Magma Aviation, which previously operated planes out of DSA before its 2022 closure, has confirmed that it is looking to return.

The news comes just days after the landmark announcement that South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is set to buy the airport from landowners Peel to bring it into public ownership.
Save DSA campaigner and business owner Mark Chadwick described the return of the 747s as “fantastic news” and said: “This isn't just any aviation company.
“Magma is an international air cargo specialist whose enormous Boeing 747 jumob jet freighters were previously a familiar sight at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
“Those magnificent four-engined giants could once again be gracing the skies above Finningley.

“Magma has publicly confirmed that it is developing a relationship with the DSA team and is excited about the opportunities ahead.”
Matthew Winterman, who works alongside Gary Winterman, DSA's Head of Cargo and General Aviation, stated: "We look forward to welcoming Magma’s B747’s back to Doncaster!"
Added Mr Chadwick: “Freight operations have the potential to bring jobs, investment, logistics businesses and wider economic opportunities into Doncaster and South Yorkshire.
“After four years of campaigning, setbacks, political arguments and people continually telling us our airport would never reopen, it is brilliant to see the aviation industry publicly engaging with the project.
“We may not have a confirmed date for the return of Magma;’s 747s just yet, but this is a very encouraging development.”
