Apply for community fundraising initiative commemorating 250th anniversary of the Betfred St Leger Festival

Organisations will simply purchase 25 Grandstand tickets for Betfred St Leger Day at an exclusive discounted fundraising rate

It’s the final furlong for local charities, community organisations, sports clubs and voluntary groups in Yorkshire to take part in the Betfred St Leger 250 Community Fundraiser.

Doncaster Racecourse has introduced the initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Betfred St Leger Stakes, which is the world’s oldest Classic horse race and one of the highlights of the British flat racing calendar.

Groups that want to take part can register now, and the final 250 successful applicants will have the opportunity to raise valuable funds for their organisations through an accessible ticket fundraising scheme.

Organisations will simply purchase 25 Grandstand tickets for Betfred St Leger Day at an exclusive discounted fundraising rate, to sell on at a minimum of £25 per ticket, with groups keeping a minimum of £250 profit raised and reinvesting it into their organisation.

Doncaster Racecourse has a long history of championing charities and the local community, including consistently supporting Autism In Racing, founded by the Racecourse’s own race day presenter Bobby Beevers, to create autism-friendly race days and commit to being an inclusive racecourse.

Rachel Harwood, executive director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “Celebrating 250 years of the Betfred St Leger Stakes isn’t just about the iconic horseracing we have seen at Doncaster Racecourse. It’s also about acknowledging the surrounding community that has contributed to its success for two-and-a-half centuries.

“Which is why we’re delighted to use this milestone to support local charities, sports clubs and community groups across Yorkshire. Not only does this initiative allow local organisations to be part of this truly historic event, but it will also raise valuable funds so they can continue their fantastic work.”

Organisations can register their interest by Friday 31 July at: www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk/competitions/betfred-st-leger-250-community-fundraiser
