Zoom around South Yorkshire with discounted travel – get your card today
South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is asking students, parents and guardians to spend a few minutes at travelsouthyorkshire.com/zoom and getting their applications in for Zoom passes for the coming academic year.
Holding a Zoom Under 16 or Zoom 16-18 pass means you can travel for just £1 on bus and tram, and half fare on Northern trains in South Yorkshire.
Pass holders can also use their card to buy a range of discounted daily, weekly and 28-day tickets from bus and tram operators across South Yorkshire.
Holders of Zoom Beyond for 18- to 21-year-olds can get to study or get to work for less on First, TM Travel and Stagecoach services, as well as for only £2 on South Yorkshire Supertram. There’s also a 15% discount on a range of TravelMaster tickets.
Oliver Coppard, South Yorkshire’s Mayor, said: “There is talent and opportunity right across our region, but it is only by connecting the two that we will unlock South Yorkshire's full potential.
“With Zoom Passes we can help to connect our young people with opportunities that will help them stay near and go far, while also saving families hundreds of pounds every year. That’s why it’s so important that everyone eligible gets their Zoom pass in time for the start of the new academic year.
“Zoom and Zoom Beyond help young people make the most of our current public transport network, but I’m determined to go further.
“I refuse to accept a situation where people living across South Yorkshire aren’t able to access opportunities in South Yorkshire. Later this year, I’ll be setting out further detail on how we’re creating an integrated transport system that really does connect our communities as well as more on our ambitious plans to pilot free public transport for young people.
“I will continue to work with the Department for Transport and others to deliver a better deal for bus passengers and deliver my manifesto promise to develop a fares policy for young people to create true freedom and choice for South Yorkshire’s next generation.”
