Oakwood High School has a reputation for producing outstanding Musical shows at Christmas and this year is no exception.
After last year’s show Bugsy Malone, they jump forward to the 1950s where the students of Rydell High are preparing for the big hand jive competition in the smash hit musical Grease.
The show has been a big favourite ever since the 1978 film version, starring Olivia Newton-John as the innocent Sandy, who has fallen in love with a boy she met on the beach during the school holidays.
She then finds that her holiday romance, Danny, is the super-cool leader of a gang called the T-Birds at her new school.
Will love survive away from the beach?
Lisa Hesling of the school staff said: “A fantastic cast of talented singers, dancers, actors and technicians and crew have been hard at work rehearsing since last March to make this the most spectacular show yet ,featuring rock and roll songs, amazing dance routines and a real hot rod car.
“Oakwood High School is due to have a brand new building in 2016 so this show will mark the end of an era as the current hall is due to be demolished, ending 60 years of performances on this stage.”
She added: “We are hoping to see lots of familiar faces in the form of both ex-pupils and members of staff who no longer work at Oakwood to celebrate the fun we’ve had and to look forward to exciting times in a state-of-the-art new performance space.”
Grease is being performed tonight and tomorrow at 7pm .
