The Government’s phased plan to ‘unlock’ the country sets out when certain businesses, attractions and services might return, giving hope that life might regain some sense of normality in the near future.
Here are 10 of the best things Doncaster can look forward to.
9. Jetting off abroad
Holiday companies seem keen to salvage the summer holiday season for 2020, despite the recently-announced plan to introduce quarantine measures in the UK for those returning from overseas. Either way, the prospect of travelling abroad when it is safe to do so is very exciting - and it's fair to say few people will take the privilege for granted again. Photo: JPIMedia
10. The big screen in the town centre
The new council-backed Savoy cinema complex in Doncaster's Civic and Cultural Quarter was due to open this spring - the £8.5 million scheme, next to the Cast theatre, also has five restaurant units and is certainly something to look forward to. The last cinema to operate in the town centre was the Odeon at Hall Gate, which closed in 2008 and was demolished in 2009 - another multiplex film venue is planned to open at the Frenchgate Centre in part of the old BHS store.
