The Government’s phased plan to ‘unlock’ the country sets out when certain businesses, attractions and services might return, giving hope that life might regain some sense of normality in the near future.
Here are 10 of the best things Doncaster can look forward to.
5. In the market for leisure time
Doncaster Wool Market underwent a big overhaul and officially reopened in 2019 - the Grade II-listed building was renovated and converted into a multifunction space. Its return will give the town some semblance of normality again. Photo: Marie Caley
6. A pint at the pub
This is the Masons Arms in Market Place, one of Doncaster's oldest pubs - although they might be among the last places to reopen properly, the day will come again when people can sip freshly-poured beer in one of the town's hostelries. Photo: Andrew Roe
7. A haircut at last
When lockdown was put in place it dawned on people that they wouldn't be able to get a professional haircut - some have attempted a home cut, while others are waiting it out until salons reopen. It is thought barbers and hairdressers may be able to go back to work in July; the picture is from the Czech Republic, which suggests what the experience might be like in England. 8. Family celebrations
A consequence of efforts to tackle the pandemic has been the mass cancellation of weddings and other traditional celebrations. Once it is safe to do so, families can reunite to mark marriages and special birthdays once again at Doncaster's best venues. Photo: Getty Images
