Doncaster Racecourse: Preview and Tips for Saturday’s Eight-Race Meeting
While it’s the final day of Glorious Goodwood down south, we have an eight-race card at Doncaster Racecourse today. There are six handicap races, a novice and a maiden to look forward to across the afternoon.

Read on for a preview of and tips for the Doncaster card, brought to you by BOYLE Sports, providers of horse racing betting.
We begin with a six-furlong, six-runner novice (13.55). This looks to be between Brash and Kohana Nation, due to the others having shown little so far. Brash has shown the most ability and consistency so far, but might not love this firmer surface. So Kohana Nation might be the one to side with here.
A seven-furlong nursery handicap follows (14.30). Each of the five runners makes their handicap debut here, with Lincoln Warrior and Prince Kameo stepping up in trip for the first time. The latter might have been helped by his recent castration, so could take a big step forward here. Lincoln Warrior, though, is the more able of the two on form and could win here.
Race three is an extended six-furlong maiden fillies’ race (15.05). There are a lot of newcomers here, so it could go any way, but of those with previous form, Forest Berry brings some of the best. She has placed twice, latterly being beaten just a nose, although Arenite also warrants consideration after finishing second of 15 on debut at Redcar. Progress could be expected here.
Next is a 10-furlong handicap (15.40). Mariner was good over a mile at this track last time and could enjoy the step up in trip on a workable mark, though Whiskey Pete ran quite an improved race last time at this track and could finally be down to an appropriate mark. He might have an each-way chance.
A three-year-olds’ handicap follows, run over seven furlongs (16.15). Suspicious Mindz was a winner of a maiden at the Curragh when last seen and could be interesting here on handicap debut. Goldwork should be taken seriously, though, back up in trip on a nicely reduced mark, and has a claiming rider in the saddle to boot.
The first division of a seven-furlong handicap is next (16.50). Ruth Carr’s Emerald Army may prove to be at a winnable mark now, having gone close at this point in the handicap before. Moonhall Lass may factor as well, having won two starts ago and is a fairly consistent sort.
In division two (17.25), Sir David could be able to win at this mark and has three pounds given to him by his rider. Von Trotter ought to be competitive also, but probably needs to come down the handicap a touch further to win again. Donald steps up in trip from five furlongs and may be worth thinking about each-way, as he has the pedigree to enjoy this trip.
Our finale is a six-furlong handicap (18.00). Ay Gee Ell has been out of form lately but just might be able to go better on a new low mark here. Another Investment is the topweight and should be competitive once again, but Celtic Arrow looks to be the improver here and ought to be our winner.
