After Stockport, Doncaster host Salford City on Saturday before games against Northampton Town and Nigel Clough’s Mansfield, who both made the play-offs last term.

Tonight’s opponents picked up their first league win of the season last weekend following their midweek cup success and have been tipped to mount another promotion challenge in 22/23.

The Hatters, who are managed by Dave Challinor, have invested heavily in their playing squad in recent years.

Last season they held off the challenge of another big-spending side, Hollywood-backed Wrexham, to win the ever-improving National League.

Doncaster Rovers vs Stockport County LIVE

Key Events

  • Doncaster unbeaten in their first three games back in League Two
  • Stockport have one win and two defeats since returning to the fourth tier, but have won their last two in league and cup
  • Minute’s applause to take place in twentieth minute

Ryan Rydel replaces Ryan Croasdale.

Took the fourth official three attempts to get that right. We thought Antoni Sarcevic was leaving the pitch, then James Brown before Croasdale’s number went up.

Rain thundering down now.

Doncaster have their tails up

‘We only need ten men’ chant the Stockport fans but Rovers are the ones enjoying possession and are playing the ball around with confidence.

Air of expectancy about the place now - this is a big chance for the home side.

As I type Tommy Rowe’s ball into George Miller from the left is headed wide.

Lovely from Tommy Rowe - and then a red car

He prevents a Stockport corner with a lovely back heel then takes one in the chops following an argument with Macauley Southam-Hales as the resultant throw-in is about to be taken.

Red card for the County man after referee Declan Bourne consults his assistant, who spotted the incident.

We could hear it up here, but Southam-Hales still protested his innonence. Some good acting in fairness.

A moment of brilliance from Lee Tomlin sees him find Kyle Knoyle with an exquisite ball over the top which catches Stockport out. If only the defender can get the ball under control, though. It drifts into the keeper’s arms.

Good work from Rovers

They do a brilliant job of keeping possession and putting Stockport under pressure with some nice flashes of quality from the likes of James Maxwell and Lee Tomlin.

The visitors clearly like to play a bit and have pinged the ball around when they’ve had it.

Great atmosphere so far. Must be close to 2,000 away fans here.

Good claim Jonathan Mitchell

He’s off his line early to intercept a cross into the six-yard box.

Some good defending from Rovers in the early stages. Madden has just flashed a speculative 40-yard volley wide of the post after he connected with Ro-Shaun Williams’ headed clearance.

Rovers force a corner

Good pressing from Rowe forces Stockport into an error and the ball is put behind after a pass misses its intended target.

Clayton’s delivery is easily claimed by County keeper Vitezslav Jaros.

Stockport get us going.

Here come the teams

Great noise inside the Eco-Power as the teams make their way out. Well over 1,000 travelling fans and those inside the Black Bank are making themselves heard, too.

Rovers kicking towards the away end in the first half, as is customary.

One change for the Hatters.
