After Stockport, Doncaster host Salford City on Saturday before games against Northampton Town and Nigel Clough’s Mansfield, who both made the play-offs last term.

Tonight’s opponents picked up their first league win of the season last weekend following their midweek cup success and have been tipped to mount another promotion challenge in 22/23.

The Hatters, who are managed by Dave Challinor, have invested heavily in their playing squad in recent years.

Last season they held off the challenge of another big-spending side, Hollywood-backed Wrexham, to win the ever-improving National League.

Rovers go close again

A Stockport defender heads Molyneux’s cross over his own bar for a corner before Rowe heads the resulting delivery into the arms of a grateful Jaros.

Wave after wave from the hosts at the minute. Just under 20 minutes left.

Almost a breakthrough

Harrison Biggins tries one from range, which looked like a daft move, but it hits Jaros on the chest and lands at George Miller’s feet about two yards out.

Somehow the keeper gets down to smother the ball, however.

Kieran Agard coming on

Credit to Doncaster, they’re going for it.

He takes on his marker and beats him before trying his luck from the edge of the box. The ball flies over.

Felt a bit rushed, that one. Still 25 minutes left of normal time.

Rovers roll the dice with an attacking switch as Luke Molyneux replaces the Scot, who moments earlier saw his ball across the six-yard box parried to safety (only just) by Jaros in the Stockport goal.

Debut for Molyneux.

Jaros tips one over

He gets to Kyle Hurst’s cross before anyone else can and sends it over the top of the crossbar for a corner.

Tomlin rattles the crossbar!

He whacks one from 20 yards with no forward pass on and it beats Jaros, only to come thundering off the woodwork. Unfortunately for him, it bounces onthe wrong side of the line when it comes down.

Normal service resumed

Doncaster are seeing more of the ball again, but creating less than they were before half time.

Stockport looking to break when they get the chance but any opportunities to do that are - and will likely be - few and far between.

55 gone.

Great save from Jaros

Rowe fires one in low on the spin and it’s heading for the bottom corner unil the Stockport keepers gets a hand to it to divert the ball wide.

Stockport’s first attack of the second half moments after the restart - and first for a while - ends up with Ryan Rydel poking the ball through Jonathan Mitchell’s legs from inside the six-yard box.
