LIVE: Rochdale 1 Doncaster Rovers 2

Rochdale club captain Eoghan O’Connell has presented a bottle of bubbly to James Coppinger before the game as a token gesture as he retires next weekend

And it’s TWO changes from the side that started the draw with Peterborough United.

OUT go Josh Sims and Omar Bogle, who both drop to the bench. IN comes Taylor Richards and Tyreece John-Jules.

No social media coverage

The Free Press has joined with clubs, players and other organisations in boycotting social media this weekend.

The protest is designed to send a strong message to social media companies that they must do more to prevent the sending of abusive and discriminatory messages on their platforms.

Here, we explain why we have taken the decision to join the boycott

There is not much wiggle room available for Andy Butler when it comes to team selection but there are a couple of changes he could make.

James Coppinger will return to the squad following his illness but it remains to be seen whether he will come straight back into the side.

Butler instead opt to reward those who performed well off the bench on Tuesday night - in particular Taylor Richards but also Tyreece John-Jules.

Josh Sims and Omar Bogle were poor at Peterborough and could drop out, with Jason Lokilo more than worthy of a consecutive start after impressing so greatly at London Road.

Ellery Balombe is back in training following his back issues.

Brad Halliday continues to miss out with a back injury while four players will be absent due to Covid-19 related issues.

Possible: Jones; Wright, Anderson, Butler, Horton; Lokilo, Smith, Richards, James; Okenabirhie, John-Jules.

Another day, another high stakes occasion involving Doncaster Rovers.

Unfortunately, the outcome will not directly influence their own season but Rovers do have the opportunity to play spoilers again.

They denied Peterborough United promotion on Tuesday night with their best performance for a long, long time - stoking up even more frustration at the fact they have failed to produce the goods on so many occasions over the last three months.

Now they have the opportunity to confirm Rochdale’s relegation to League Two. Anything less than a victory for Brian Barry-Murphy’s side this afternoon will see them drop into the fourth tier.

Rovers will need to produce the goods again against a side that, despite their position in the table, are always a difficult prospect and play good football.

But if Rovers perform anything like they did in the last hour of Tuesday’s game, they will have an excellent chance of coming away with all three points.

Building on the midweek performance would be a major positive and hopefully send Rovers on the path to ending the campaign with a degree of optimism.
